Bluewater Bio Limited, a leading provider of treatment solutions to the water industry, is pleased to announce that Severn Trent Water (“Severn Trent”), through its key capital delivery partner Costain/Stantec (“CiM6”), has selected the Company’s high rate multi-media filtration technology, FilterClear, for the provision of a Tertiary Solids Removal (TSR) plant at Brockhampton STW, Gloucestershire. In order to achieve compliance with the new consent of 0.25 mg/l for phosphorus, under the Water Framework Directive, BwB are providing a fully automated 4v2340 tertiary solids removal plant. Brockhampton STW is a medium sized activated sludge works, serving a population equivalent (P.E.) of 16,000, treating influent from within the Cheltenham catchment. Once completed, the FilterClear solids removal plant will be capable of treating in excess of 116 l/s.
BwB’s scope will include design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of a new TSR plant, with delivery scheduled for May 2018.The contract marks the Company’s second phosphorus removal scheme in the past 12 months, both for Severn Trent Water. FilterClear had previously undergone an extensive trial at Yorkshire Water’s Bolsover treatment works, as part of the Chemical Investigation Program (CIP). FilterClear was demonstrated to be one of the few technologies to be able to consistently meet the challenging TP target of 0.1 mg/l for this size of works.
Fergus Rooksby, Commercial Director of Bluewater Bio, commented: “We are delighted to work with both Severn Trent and CiM6 on this P removal scheme. Given the increase in stringent P consents coming into force this AMP, we believe FilterClear is in a strong position to meet the needs of the UK water market. On the back of our impressive results at Bolsover, Severn Trent and their delivery partners have shown a high degree of confidence in FilterClear in achieving very low P consents.”
“This contract, in addition to our current contract at Codsall STWs in Staffordshire – due to be commissioned and operational in February 2018 – allows us to showcase FilterClear as an ideal option for a chemical dosing approach to low phosphate concentration consents. FilterClear’s innovative patented design and offsite manufacturing offers the lowest total cost of ownership for tertiary filtration applications.”
FilterClear is both a modular and scalable process, treating flows ranging from 2 L/s to in excess of 1,000 L/s. The technology has a proven track record across multiple applications, both domestically and internationally, having proven to be highly competitive when compared with mono and dual media and other filtration systems.
Mark Williams, Project Manager at Costain, concluded: “I am delighted with the appointment of BwB for the Brockhampton project and my team have been very impressed by the proactive approach of the BwB team.”
International Water Summit (IWS) brings together over 200 technology providers, innovators and suppliers to showcase their latest products and innovations in the Middle East. Set out to drive the future of water sustainability, desalination and energy efficiency across the commercial, industrial and residential building sectors, this is the event for anyone who wants to source smart water solutions that translate directly into cost savings.
We will be exhibiting – as part of the British Pavilion – at this year’s IWS conference & expo, the Middle East’s pre-eminent Water industry event. We will be located in Hall 3, Stand 3125.
