Global Reach
Middle East - Saudi Arabia
Bluewater Bio International has entered into an agreement with Nesma & Partners, a leading general contractor in Saudi Arabia and the engineering and construction division of Nesma Holding (Nesma Group), a large diversified group in the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia is listed under “absolute water scarcity category” and will not be able to meet its water needs by 2025. Due to a growing population, and rapid economic growth, water demand in the Kingdom is increasing rapidly at 6% annually. Saudi Arabia has the highest cost of water production and transportation in the world. The Kingdom’s sewage collection coverage is only 45% and treated effluent reuse is very limited. Wastewater treatment plants and networks require huge investments, over 85 billion Saudi Riyals for the next 20 years.
Bluewater Bio in partnership with Nesma intends to provide the National Water Company with wastewater treatment technology solutions which are sustainable at each level, being economic, environmental and social. Bluewater Bio is committed to presenting clients, wherever possible, a proposal for treated water re-use. Wastewater re-use has the potential to bring benefits to public health, the environment, and the local and project economy. The nature of Bluewater Bio’s proprietary and fully biological treatment technology, the HYBACS Process, is to ensure a high quality treated effluent for re-use in suitable applications and reduce the operational and capital expenditure.
