Our proprietary HYBACS technology can treat any biological industrial wastewater effluent with BOD values from 150 mg/L to > 10 000 mg/L, reducing OPEX costs by up to 45% (including an energy consumption reduction of up to 50%) and CAPEX costs by up to 20%.
Bluewater Bio has successfully worked with industrial water treatment works, providing a sustainable platform for wastewater re-use, reducing plant footprint, meeting stringent safety and waste disposal standards, and complying with emissions reduction regulations such as the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Directive.
HYBACS exploits Bacillus bacteria to produce a wide range of enzymes at high rates (more than three times higher than typical bacteria), to nitrify heterogeneously and denitrify, to assimilate nitrogen from ammonium (NH4+) and nitrate (NO3-), to oxidise sulphides (without reducing sulphate), and produce mixed liquor with good settling characteristics.
Bacillus is presently used industrially and commercially:
- dosed into sewers to remove grease deposits
- dosed into Activated Sludge plants to improve performance
- to produce:
- enzymes (α-amylase, lipase A, protase, depolymerase)
- antibiotics (eg Subtilin, polymyxin, bacitracin)
- fungicide and larvicide
