Daniel Ishag Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Daniel Ishag was the vision and drive behind Espotting. In 2000, at the age of 26 and in the middle of the dotcom bust, Daniel launched one of the most successful Internet companies. The award-winning Espotting was picked by the Financial Times as one of their Top 50 Creative Businesses. In February 2004, Espotting announced its merger with NASDAQ FindWhat.com (NASDAQ: FWHT) which valued Espotting at $170m. Daniel was finalist in both the European Technology Forum's Technology Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001, and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 and 2004.
Daniel brought to the European market a new concept in online advertising - paid for listings, which now accounts for 82% of total online media spend. In just 4 years Espotting had grown from Daniel's vision, into a 240 employee pan-European company that operated in 8 languages, 5 currencies, and serviced 23,000 clients. As the founder and CEO, Daniel was the life-blood of Espotting and directly responsible for its success.
Prior to Espotting Daniel was an investment banker, where he was directly responsible for the success of many B-2-B e-commerce ventures including planning and hiring management teams for Europe's largest food infomediary and a cutting edge development and software house. His international business experience has been gathered in many far-flung places, including Indonesia, Hong Kong, USA, Africa, and Europe.
Adrian Harris Chief Operating Officer
Adrian Harris began his career as an investment banker at Lazard Brothers and Co, in London. He later spent four years running the financial and treasury function for the family office of a European high net worth individual. He is the author of two software products, LiveWebs Markets for Excel and LookMeUp for Word, and is the founder of Grumbletext®, the UK consumer action site and has made numerous TV and radio appearances as an expert commentator on various consumer issues. Adrian was also special advisor to Tamara Mellon, the founder of Jimmy Choo, the international luxury shoe business, until her emigration to the US in 2010.
Garry Hoyland Technical Director
Dr Garry Hoyland obtained his MSc in chemical engineering at the University of Birmingham in 1968, where he also obtained his PhD three years later, followed by four years as a research fellow. Between 1975 and 1990 he was employed by the prestigious Water Research Centre in the UK. In 1990 he joined Mott Macdonald where he remained until joining the Group in 2007, at which time he served as a director of Mott MacDonald’s Wastewater and Pollution Control Division, managing a team of process and environmental engineers specialising in the field of pollution control and environmental protection. He has worked on a wide range of projects relating to wastewater and sludge in many different countries. He has also written several peer-reviewed papers.
Dynshaw Italia Chief Financial Officer
Dynshaw qualified as a chartered accountant with Talwar & Company and subsequently spent three years at KPMG. He then joined ebookers plc as the 5th employee in the company taking on the role of Director of Financial Operations and helped float the company on the Nasdaq, Neuer market in Germany and the London Stock Exchange. Dynshaw helped build ebookers into Europes largest online travel agency with operations in 11 countries, Gross Sales of $300m and over 500 employees. Dynshaw then worked as Chief Operating Officer, Finance Director, Head of HR and IT for Cobra Beer for the next 8 years. Cobra Beer is one of the fastest growing beer brands in the UK and is exported to 45 countries. Dynshaw was also responsible for helping set up and establish the Cobra Beer operations in India. In 2009 he helped set up the global Joint Venture between Molson Coors (the UKs second largest Brewer) and Cobra Beer. During his role with Cobra Beer Dynshaw was recognised as one of the brightest young finance directors by him winning Finance Director of the Year for a Growing Business at the 2006 Accountancy Age Awards and Young Finance Director of the Year 2007 by Read FD / CBI at their FD’s Excellence Awards.
Dr Piers Clark Non-Executive Director
Dr Clark brings to Bluewater Bio over 20 yearsʼ experience in the water, waste and utilities industries, since joining North West Water as a Research Scientist in 1994. His most recent position has been as Interim Asset Director with Thames Water, one of the UK's largest water and wastewater services companies. Prior to this, Dr Clark served as Managing Director for Utilities at Mouchel Ltd and Management Board Member of parent Group Mouchel plc, the global engineering consultancy firm with 11,000 employees, focused especially on the UK, Ireland and the Gulf States. During his five years at Mouchel, where he led a team of around 3000 staff across the water, energy, environment and rail sectors, Dr Clark saw turnover treble and profits increase nearly six-fold. Primary achievements include the coordination of key international acquisitions and driving innovation across the utilities sector through his leading role in the Mouchel-sponsored industry-wide Technology Approvals Group (TAG).
Dr Clark currently holds a Non-executive Director position at Empire Water in California and is also active within the sectorʼs financial community, where he advises the Emerald Cleantech fund. In the UK, he currently serves as a member of the industry regulator OFWATʼs Future Regulation Advisory Panel. Additionally, Dr Clark, a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, has published over 30 technical papers and several patent applications.
Professor Tom Stephenson Chairman of Water Innovate and Advisor to the Bluewater Bio Board
Professor Tom Stephenson is internationally known and respected as one of the UK’s foremost academic experts in the water and wastewater industry. Recently elected as Fellow of the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), his appointments span both academia and commerce, as is reflected in his role as Chairman of British Water, the UK’s trade body representing the industry collectively to government, regulators, other institutions, customers and the media. Professor Stephenson is also Head of School of Applied Sciences at Cranfield University, heading up over 300 staff and 600 postgraduate students. His School generates approximately £30 million in annual income. Professor Stephenson is also Chairman of Water Innovate, the commercial spin-out of Cranfield’s renowned School of Water Sciences, which was recently acquired by Bluewater Bio. Prof. Stephenson’s personal international reputation for research is demonstrated by the publication of over 150 papers on water and wastewater treatment, including biological wastewater processes, nutrient removal and water reuse. He has held an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) ‘Platform’ grant for 10 years and has represented the industry on panels for UK Government and British Water. He has also contributed to the OECD World Business Council for Sustainable Development report on Water Scenarios to 2025. Professor Stephenson is a fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), a Chartered Engineer, and a member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
Xan Morgan Vice President Business Development
Xan is a Business and Brand Development professional, with over 7 years' experience in developing finance plans, attracting VC funding and project managing global marketing programmes. In 2003, he co-founded Xan Obolensky, a successful global retail label, with factories in Kashmir and Vietnam, and over 200 employees globally. From 2005 he relaunched an iconic 1960's fashion brand in London. Xan's track record in sales, distribution and manufacturing processes extends beyond the retail sector into areas as diverse as the Morgan Motor Company, event management and new media. More specifically to Bluewater, Xan's insight and networks in the global social and developmental arena have been applied through various international assignments as a BBC film-maker in Northern India; on secondment to the Tibetan Government; and organising, producing and promoting charity events for Tibet, Bosnia and Botswana - all areas where waste and water conservation have become critical board and political issues.
Pedro Erasmo Santiago Atencio Director Latin America
Prior to joining Bluewater Bio, Pedro was Managing Director of Energy Research & Consulting for Energy Intelligence Group. He has been engaged in venture capital investment activities focused on the renewable energy and environmental sectors, having successfully established and operated several companies from 1992 to present. In particular he was Founder and President of Separation & Recovery Systems Recupertec, Inc., with global operations providing petroleum waste separation technology, wastewater treatment and environmental remediation services to major IOC’s and NOC’s, paper and pulp and mining industry. From 1998 through 2002, he served as President of the Latin American operations of Kenny Manta Industrial Services, Inc., where he oversaw numerous refinery and industrial maintenance projects. From 1988 to 1992 he served as a Chief International Treasurer at the Central Bank of Venezuela, where he was responsible for developing and implementing investment strategies for diversified portfolios at the Central Bank of Venezuela. He received a BBS in Economics and a BBA, with a major in Finance and Management from the Wharton School and subsequently received an MSc in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. He serves in the Board of various nonprofit organizations such as the USA based NCSD National Centre for Sustainable Development.
Kimberly Tara Non-Executive Director
Kimberly Tara is the Chief Executive Officer of FourWinds Capital Management, an investment management company specializing in commodities and natural resources.
The Company manages more than $1 billion, including investment vehicles covering energy, metals, agriculture, timberland, water, waste, and alternative energies.
Ms. Tara has spent the last 17 years negotiating, executing and managing investments, with a focus on cross-border transactions. She worked previously with Morgan Stanley in New York, Value Partners in Italy, and as an alternative investment consultant in Europe and the US. Ms. Tara joined the Board of Bluewater Bio International in April 2009.
Bertrand Lipworth Non-Executive Director
Bertrand Lipworth has 25 years experience in investment banking, private equity and venture capital gained at Samuel Montagu, Lazard and Kidder Peabody, followed by his own firm, Lipworth Capital. His firm provides financial advisory services to the private equity, hedge fund and technology sectors and also makes principal investments. Bertrand is deputy chairman of the Ukraine Opportunity Trust PLC and chairman of Sirenic Group Limited. He was a founder and managing director of Paradigm Media Investments PLC, an AIM listed investment company with prominent international investors, from 2000 to 2003.
Yves Cohen Non-Executive Director
Yves Cohen is founder and Managing Director of Geneva Financial Services, a family office financial advisory company based in Geneva, Switzerland. He is also co-founder of PCCM, a Hedge fund company, where he was responsible for business development and operations. Prior to co-founding PCCM, he was a director at Maverick Conseils, a Swiss investment firm, where he specialized in wealth management and real estate advisory services. Prior to Maverick, he worked for an investment bank, where he was responsible for a range of successful technology and real estate investments in several emerging countries, as well as England and Switzerland.
Magid Khoury Non-Executive Director
Magid Khoury is founder and CEO of Capvest Advisors, a real estate asset management company based in Geneva, Switzerland. Capvest has CHF 200 million worth of real estate under management. Magid is also co-founder and President of Globalstar, a holding company based in Geneva that primarily invests in private equity transactions, leveraging a wide network of Middle Eastern contacts and relationships that have been cultivated over the last 15 years. Prior to co-founding Globalstar, he was managing director at Socofi-nance, one of the largest Swiss Finance companies specialized in the trading of precious metals, oil and currencies with a focus on Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE).
David Paul Non-Executive Director
David Paul has over 20 years of general management experience in international businesses. He has worked in a wide range of industries including water treatment, power generation, agricultural trading, and real estate investment. David has extensive experience in the Czech Republic where he managed both private equity and project development funds based in Prague. He has also worked as a management consultant focusing on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and turnaround management. He holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Rutgers University, an MBA from the University of Chicago and a Masters in International Business from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium.
